Fireworks from Hong Kong
I can't believe I haven't posted in 3 whole days! Sorry friends! It's been an amazing and busy weekend. On Thursday night, we braved an imminent storm and caught the Hong Kong installment of the International Fireworks Competition. The show was amazing! It took my breath away. I've never seen so many different types of fireworks, such complex explosions, colours and shapes. There were even butterfly fireworks.
Each blast was perfectly timed and choreographed to the Chinese soundtrack. Everything from violent violin, to instrumental (think Crouching Tiger music), to dance music. The climax consisted of thousands of powerful fireworks going off in succession, rapid-fire style, perfectly timed to a crazy music beat, until the whole sky was aglow. WOW! I found out today that the Hong Kong performance won the whole competition. Well-deserved in my humble opinion!

What a beautiful photo of the fireworks! It looks like a collection of fruit-flavored lollipops! MLW

I cannot lie... the photo isn't mine, I just found a good one of "Fireworks from Hong Kong" since I left my camera at home that night! Quite ingenious I thought, but I wasn't attempting to be misleading!

Very cool. Some time, on your international travels (ie. the next time you're back in Spain) make sure you go to Las Fallas in Valencia. Just don't expect to find a place to stay unless you book WAAAAAAAAAY in advance. Fawn and I slept on a park bench. It was worth it for the best, and longest, fireworks show I've EVER seen.
