Calgary Corporate Challenge!
You may be wondering what has kept me so busy and away from my blog for the last couple of weeks? The Calgary Corporate Challenge is the main culprit!

Calgary Corporate Challenge is a volunteer-driven, Olympic-style event developed by Calgary’s business community for Calgary’s business community. Each September, employees, managers and volunteers throughout Calgary’s business community participate in a variety of fun-filled athletic and non-athletic events. The results of this good-natured competition promotes the interaction of co-workers, builds morale and instills company pride, provides physical and mental conditioning for employees and enhances employer/ employee relations.
With over 200 companies, 1,600 volunteers and over 18,000 athletes, Calgary Corporate Challenge has grown to become the largest annual amateur athletic event in North America. As a non-profit organization, the Calgary Corporate Challenge has raised over $2 million for local Calgary charities and is continuously striving to increase contributions to the community.

My personal involvement has been in a few areas. I was helping out in the Challenge office before the actual games... everyone knows how much there is to do before an event of this size goes "Live"! This past week, I was an Event Coordinator for the *new* Ultimate Frisbee event. I was at our indoor venue for up to 9 hours at a time, most days this week, training volunteers, liaising with team captains, handling issues, injuries, emergencies, conflicts, and of course being the go-to expert on-site for anything else. It was super busy and tons of fun. A great side bonus has been how awesome it has been for networking - I've met lots of great people from many different companies!
Some of the most fun I had was running the Medal Ceremonies each night and walking ~ 10KM per night as I travelled around 7 indoor fields, checking in with each field's volunteers and team members to ensure things were running smoothly.
