Injured and AWOL...
I'm sorry to say I haven't posted in 3 days... (my Quotations post was actually added on Tuesday evening...)
I've been AWOL because Wednesday evening, I suddenly injured my lower back! From running 6km and feeling like a million bucks at 7:34pm Wed, to sharp, shooting, acute lower back pain at 7:35pm Wed. I went down! I have been less than mobile since then (any movement at all - crawling, walking, changing positions - has been quite painful), but things are getting better.
I dragged myself to a doctor, because the healthline I called performed a phone assessment and the result was "Report in person to a physician immediately." She examined me and decided I had a common Lower Back Strain and wanted to prescribe me all sorts of painkillers, anti-inflammatories, muscle relaxants. I said "No thanks!" as I prefer to go au naturel when possible.
Then, on the sage advice of my Significant Other, today I hobbled over to see a chiropractor. After assessing me gently, feeling around, relaxing my back muscles (she hadn't seen more tense & stressed muscles than mine this summer) and finally performing an adjustment... VOILA! I could stand up straight again! And the pain changed from acute pain to more of a dull pain with acute moments, but less than before! The dull pain and ability to stand up straight is *much* easier to live with ... allowing me to be somewhat mobile and re-embark on my journey of life!
It was hard to live passionately when even changing positions from lying on my side to my back caused sharp pain. I even found myself having to crawl gingerly to the washroom at 3am. But now, I can get back to the art of living. Which is why I'm up past 2am... too much sleeping the last 2 days (I was probably in Body Repair Mode Sleep), and excited about being able to go camping this weekend! Of course, it will be a gentle, relaxing camping weekend rather than the vigorous, mountain climbing, hiking, running, swimming retreat I had envisioned, but I'm just happy to be going.
So, I'll be back on Monday evening from camping with friends, cousins, and my Grampa's 1979 Camper Van. I'm sure I'll have lots of stories to share. Oh, and Happy September! I can barely believe it has arrived already.
Have a great long weekend everyone!!

I'm taking a collection to send Lara to Chiropractic University...
but really.
I'm happy you took my advice! Seeing you with the same posture as your grandfather was frightening.

That's so weird that that happened to your back all of a sudden. Good luck with the recovery!
