Lessons Learned...
Well, it's been almost 10 days, and I've done everything I could possibly do to track down my digital camera and the digital media holding my precious photos, but alas, it hasn't turned up. So, I will say goodbye to my camera, grieve its' loss and make peace with its absence. Thankfully all I lost was about $450 and a few precious digital photos with my sports teams and my Grampa. It could have been worse.
I know that one thing that helps bring closure to an event it to try to learn from it, make peace that it happened, and then move on from it. So in that spirit, I will share with you what I've learned since last Saturday.
Lessons learned from losing my camera:
1. Always label anything precious and valuable with your name, phone number, email, and a friendly "Please return" label. Anything to make its return easier!
2. Download important photos IMMEDIATELY after the important event! Make CDs, make copies, backup backup backup! Never just leave them on the memory card, even 5 days can make the difference.
3. Always follow your gut instincts, those first feelings that come when contemplating an action. Had I followed mine and not questioned them, I may have either never lost the camera or have had a chance to find it.
4. Always look behind you and around you when leaving anywhere, in case you accidentally dropped something under your chair, or left something behind inadvertently. Always look back!
5. KISS - Keep it simple sweetie! Keep life simple when possible.
Well, with that done, I am at peace. Aurevoir!
