A package from France!!! And a new Calgary cell??
What a surprise!!! Today I received an amazing package from my dear friend Muriel in France... it was a belated birthday gift, a gorgeous and funny (French humour) card and a DVD starring Audrey Tatou, my favourite French actress. Thank you SOOOOO much, Muriel!! I couldn't call to tell her right away, since it's 8 hrs later there and was already the middle of the night when I got my mail, so this is why I am writing a public thank-you letter. GROS GROS MERCI MUMU!!!
Strangely, I was expecting a different package. I was expecting a new cellphone from Rogers Wireless! Ahhhh! Ohhhh! Yes it's true! I have been thinking about switching providers and getting a new cellphone since April, but hadn't yet made it happen. The timing quite fitting since yesterday was my 6-month anniversary of moving to Calgary. I really need the phone now to be able to answer networking call-backs at all time since my job search is just taking off... and I get 3 months free local calling which is incredible because I'm certain to rack up those daytime minutes calling all my contacts during business hours!
I wanted to find a really good deal on a monthly plan, since the one I've had since 2003 is no longer offered, and I didn't want to pay more for the same plan... so I watched and waited, and finally found a great deal, and the phone I wanted, with Rogers... thanks to Lorne! I had to activate my new account by phone to get the deal I wanted for a monthly plan, which is why they are shipping me my new phone.
So, they were supposed to ship it out last Thursday, and I was supposed to get it this Monday or Tuesday. But... nope and nope. So, I called, and it turns out there was a "technical glitch" and the phone never got sent! Auughhhhh! So they are giving me my first month free as an apology, and my phone will be here by end of week. It's funny, I guess 5-6 business days doesn't seem like that much time to wait, but when you are EXPECTING your new local cell and FINALLY made the decision and commitment, the days feel like weeks! But that awesome surprise package from Muriel eased the pain today...
The exciting part is this: I got a number ending in 9623, the same as my home number! Fun fun fun! I won't write the whole number here, but I'll send it out as soon as I have the phone in my hot little hands!!
This was supposed to be about Muriel, how did it get so long and so sidetracked? Maybe cause I hadn't vented about my cell phone saga until now? I've probably lost most of you but I will again thank Muriel for that fabulous package that arrived, one last time. Gracias mi hermanita francesa! It was soooo nice and makes the extended waiting for the new RAZR cellphone easier!!! Gros Bisous!!!
