It hurts! It hurts!

Time for a quick update on my race recovery: IT HURTS!!! I am so incredibly sore right now. Sunday I was extremely sore, and Monday was even worse as I started to stiffen up and my leg muscles started to seize. This morning was unbelieveable! I didn't think it could get worse, but it did. Muscles I didn't even know I had are so sore and tender! My hips, hamstrings, quadriceps, and calves are the worst. Actually my arms and stomach are sore too, strangely. That being said however, the soreness and feeling of having knives attacking my muscles each time I move is finally starting to dissipate.

I've been resting and relaxing as much as possible. I've taken more baths in the last 3 days than I've had in the last 3 years, and have been making good use of my A535 cream to ease the pain. Stretching is key but even that has seemed impossible until today.

The good news is that it's good pain. It feels so good to hurt so much because that means that I really worked hard and my muscles are repairing themselves. I am still on Cloud Nine after achieving my time goal at the race, so my buzz mutes the pain a bit too. I plan to go for my first post-race run on Sunday morning. I want to see my running friends and keep the momentum going. I've heard from some people that if they wait too long to get running again after a race, it can be very difficult to get back to it. Plus, its supposed to be nice this weekend, Sunny and +7! I wonder if all the snow will melt?
