Inspired Packing

Lorne went home to New Brunswick to visit his parents this weekend. Quite fitting, since it is the Family Day long weekend. His flight left at noon on Saturday. Here is the crazy part about how our Saturday morning played out. At 8:45 am, just as we were waking up, Lorne got a call from work, asking him to come in for an hour before he left town. ASAP. If I were on the receiving end of this call, I might have freaked right out. For me, on the day of leaving on a trip, there isn't normally alot of buffer time to accomodate last minute requests.

Lorne took it all in stride. He was the picture of calm and control as he had breakfast, showered, and managed to pack his luggage for NB in the time it took me to get ready to drive him to the airport. HE was packing for a whole weekend, I was not even packing for 30 minutes, and he BEAT me. I was impressed and inspired. So, we left home at 9:45am, went to his work for an hour, then we drove to the airport and he was on his way on schedule, calm, relaxed, and on time.

I am totally inspired and impressed by Lorne's ability to adapt and get ready quickly. I am truly inspired to learn how to get ready for trips in a more efficient, relaxed manner. Wow.

The post-script to this post is hilarious. Lorne just admitted to me on the phone that he completely forgot to pack any socks and underwear. A-HA! He may be awesome, but he isn't perfect. Phew!

Guys don't have to worry about packing cosmetics and hair-control items like we do. And they can generally make do with fewer shoes, too. And that means we have the added responsibility of making sure our luggage isn't overweight.

But I guess none of that impacts how we react to changes in our plans -- which totally stresses me out, too. So kudos to Lorne for being the calm, collected, and flexible guy he is! When are we going to get to meet him, anyway?!

Ha ha! For me, it's pyjamas that are always in danger of getting left behind!
