Frozen in Calgary: The Deep Freeze

Some of you may have heard that winter arrived early in Calgary this year. We've had snow and very col weather on and off since October 16th, which is a little early for me. Recently, we've had a Deep Freeze. I will give you an example of our weather forecast.

Today:
Sunday: High of -25, Low of -31, Windchill - 38

My poor friend Chris chose this weekend to visit a long time ago. Yikes! We've been mostly staying inside our warm home and our warm car, although we will venture out for short periods of time.

However, yesterday we went to Banff. Mostly because Chris wanted to see the mountains, but also because it was actually warmer there than here in Calgary! Normally the temperature is much lower in mountain towns due to the elevation, but not this time. It was great: we checked out the mountains, a few nice hotels, had some delicious sushi from a Choo-Choo-Train Sushi Restaurant (where the sushi comes travelling around the counter, powered by an electric toy train), and of course found refuge in the quaint shops by shopping and tasting yummy goodies.

Apparently it's supposed to go up to -1 C by Thursday, and I can't wait for the freeze to thaw, to get back to some normal-esque November temperatures! Please send warm thoughts our way!
